The junta air force bombed Molong village, Mabein Township, Momeik District, Northern Shan State, without a fight, killing 6 people including a child, and injuring 5, according to local residents.
The military jet fighter from the Tada-U Air Force Base launched a bombing attack on Molong village at around 6:30 p.m., on April 2.
“There was no fighting. The jet bombed it. Among the six killed, the youngest child was novitiate. He was only 7 years old. The injured are also very worried. More than ten houses were destroyed. The phone line was also cut, but it is being restored,” a local man from Mabein village told MPA.
Those killed by the junta bombing attack were 27-year-old Ko Tain Yan Moe, 36-year-old Ko Naig Win Cho, 37-year-old Ko Chit Htwe, 16-year-old Ko Ngar Letma (b) Ko Lin Khant Paing, a monk and a seven-year-old child. The injured were Ko Shan Min Maung, Ko Zeya Htin, Ko Chaw, Daw Shu-U, and Ko Aung Bo.
“The bombs also hit the monastery. A monk killed was a guest monk who was coming from Mandalay monastery to Molone village,” explained a woman who knew what happened.
At present, most of the local residents of Molong village are fleeing to safety, and the junta planes are flying over Mabein town, according to local people.
“The junta aircraft has been hovering over Mabein since morning and the phone line is not working. The hospital is open,” said a woman from Mabein.
Mabein Township is a township bordering Kachin State and Sagaing Region, and it is located on Mandalay – Myitkyina highway.
Last January 21, Mabein township was captured by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and its joint forces. The military junta declared martial law in Mabein Township on February 28.
