The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) has occupied seven military junta camps in Mansi, Momauk and Bamhotownships in Kachin State, according to a ground military source.
On April 7, 2024, starting at 5:00 a.m., the KIA launched a simultaneous offensive against the militaryjunta camps in Mansi, Momauk, and Bhamo Townships and captured the Hsinhkan Irrawaddy River Bridge Guard Camp in Hsinhkan Village, Bamho Township, Bamho-Shwe Ku Road, the Hsinhkan Police Station, and the Tower Village Camp at about 7:00 am.
“The entire village of Hsinhkan has been captured, and the remaining camps are still being attacked. Only Bamho is left. As heavy weapons fell into Aung Pyi Thar village on the outskirts of Bamho Town, some people got wounded. But the details are not yet known,” the military source told MPA.
Similarly, the KIA was able to capture the Mansi Police Station in Mansi Township around 11:00 a.m. on April 7, according to local residents.
“The Mansi police station has been seized. Weapons are also seized. KIA is continuing to attack junta camps near Mansi,” said a Mansi resident.
In addition, the KIA has been attacking to seize the remaining 437th Light Infantry Battalion in Momauk Township since April 7, 6:00 a.m., and the battle is taking place in the town, it is reported.
“For the past months, the KIA has been placed the upper part of Momauk, and thejunta troops in the lower part. This morning, Junta’s planes bombarded the town since early morning. Those who did not avoid it are running away separately,” said a man from Momauk township who did not want to be named.
Until now, fighting has been going on in these three townships, and MPA is still investigating the casualties.
The KIA has occupied more than 100 military camps in Kachin State since March 7, 2024, until now.
