It was learned that the junta troops entered and burned down Zee Hpyu Kone village, Matara Township, Mandalay Region, without reason.
A junta column with around 50 forces that came out of Tangar Village, Matara Township, around 4:30 am. on the 7th of May, entered Zee Phyu Gone village and burned down at least five houses, according to the Matara Township People’s Defense Force (Pa Ka Hpa under the NUG).
“It was not a clash. It is believed that they raided villages with a report that PDF troops had been stationed in the villages,” the information officer of Matara Township PDF told MPA.
About 800 residents from six villages, including Zee Hpyu Gone village, had to urgently flee from this column, but no one has been arrested or killed, a local said.
“We had to avoid it for a while. Now it’s calm,” he said.
It is reported that the column retreated to Tangar Village at around 10:00 a.m. after burning down Zee Hpyu Kone village.
It is known that the people who fled the column returned to their villages on May 7th.
