Due to the ongoing fighting in the eastern part of Demoso Township, Kayah (Karenni) State, the number of people displaced by the war has reached more than ten thousand.
A local said that since May 15, the villages in the eastern part of Demoso Township have been bombarded from the air and fired from the ground with heavy weapons by the SAC, causing local residents to flee their homes.
” According to the big villages in the eastern part of Demoso, so there are tens of thousands of people. Currently, they are interspersed. Some took a risk and fled to Loikaw,” he said.
As a result of the fighting between the SAC troops and the local KNDF forces, the roads leading to Bawlakhe Township are damaged and the side of the SAC is also closed to pass through the road.
“There is only one road left that connects to the Bawlakhe District. The other roads and bridges have been damaged due to the fighting on both sides. They closed the roads on both sides and now the remaining road is controlled by the Military, so cars are not allowed to cross. Cars are confiscated and people are arrested, so the people displaced by war are staying in safety,” he said.
According to the KNDF battalion, the SAC troops and the KNDF forces have been fighting in a place on the eastern side of Demoso Township since 6:30 this morning.
On May 18th, the SAC attacked by air strike and heavy weapons at Dokhlakhu and Hpehlar villages in the eastern part of Demoso Township, causing casualties and damaging a school and five houses.
