The Arakan Army (AA) said that it is starting to use the aid of the Brotherhood Alliances for the Rakhine State, which was affected by Cyclone Mocha.
It was learned that the donations given by KIO Headquarters, Myanmar National Truth and Justice Party/ Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNTJP/MNDAA), and National Unity Government (NUG) will be used for the emergency needs of the people affected by the cyclone last May 17th.
“We have been taking a list since last May 15th. We are also clearing the roads that were closed due to the storm. We are also rebuilding the houses that have collapsed so that they can be temporarily occupied. Regarding the other necessary emergency materials, we are working on the necessary things using all the resources. There are still many needs,” U Khaing Thukha, spokesperson of the Arakan Army (AA), told MPA.
At present, the entire Rakhine state was affected by the storm, and more than 95 percent of it was destroyed, so international aid is also needed to restore it, he added.
“Even after the storm hit on May 14th, the people who have in Kyauktaw and Rathaedaung suffered a great deal as the temporary tents collapsed again when it was rainy and windy again on May 16th and 17th. Therefore, I would like to request international organizations, including the UN, to come to the Rakhine people in distress as soon as possible and deliver aid,” he said.
On May 14th, the Rakhine State suffered massive damage due to the powerful Cyclone Mocha, the KIO Headquarters handed over Myanmar Kyat 300,000,000 (300 million kyats) to the United League of Aralan on May 17th to be used for subsequent emergency relief operations.
