According to local residents, a pregnant woman gave birth to 4 twins, and the mother and her 2 newborn babies were killed during childbirth, in Langkoo village Leiktho township, Thantaung North (special area), Kayin State.
A 40-year-old local woman said that this pregnant woman had often fled the war, and she gave birth to 4 twins at around 7:00 p.m. on March 29, and she died during her childbirth of the last baby.
“She (pregnant woman) just came back recently. She is not doing well in business. She gave birth with the help of the village’s midwife, and she can’t see the doctor. After giving birth to 3 babies, she died with the remaining one in the womb. One of those newborn babies died the next day. This baby died was a girl. Now only 2 girl twins left,” she explained.
A man close to the family said that members of the charity took away the 2 surviving newborn children on April 1.
“It’s not easy for these newborn babies to live. They are very small. Their weight was about 2 pounds. Taungoo Hospital doctors said there was only a 20 percent chance of survival. Those doctors quickly transferred these babies to Yangon Hospital and Nay Pyi Taw. I don’t know if they will live. I heard the brothers from the charity have hospitalized the babies in Yangon,” he said.
The woman who died during childbirth was only around 30 years old, and during her pregnancy, she had to flee three times due to fighting in her area.
When the woman died, three children under the age of 7 were left with her husband, according to the villagers.
