The junta troops shot dead 30 displaced people in Lathtutaw village in Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region, Ko Nway Oo from Civilian’s Defense and Security Organization of Myaung – CDSOM claimed.
The military column raided the village of Lathtutaw where there is no fighting and shot dead displaced people in a monastery of the village at 5:00 a.m. on May 11, Ko Nway Oo said.
“They raided the village and shot people dead, without a fight. They raided the village, shooting continuously at 5:00 a.m. early morning. At that time, the people run into the monastery while fleeing from them. They (junta troops) chased them to the monasteries and shot all men massive killing,” he said.
Due to the shooting by the junta troops, 5 people were shot dead in the west monastery, 23 people in the east monastery, and 2 people on the road of Lathtutaw, and among those dead, a woman was included, Ko Nway Oo said.
“Currently, the military column has also arrested more than 10 people in Lathtutaw village and it is not known where they have been taken,” a person helping IDPs said.
In addition, there were around 12 people who did not die when being shot by the junta troops and who were injured due to beatings, he continued.
“There are 12 people who are being treated for injuries. Those people were injured by shooting and beating. One of them was not shot dead because he was at the bottom of the pile of dead bodies. He was only injured, so now he is being treated,” he said.
Among the 30 people who were shot dead, 3 people were masons from Wunpyae village, who were working in the monastery of Lathtutaw village.
The military column of over 100 forces from the military camps at the Myaung Road intersection, at Nat Ye Kan and Gwaypin Taw in Chaung-U Township, raided Lathtutaw village and shot dead the people.
