According to local people, 4 civilians, including 2 children, were injured when the junta troops opened fire with heavy weapons to Khethin village, Singu Township, Mandalay Region, at 9:00 a.m. on March 31.
“Three heavy weapons (81 mm) were fired into the village of Khetin, hitting two children and two adults, and a three-year-old child is in a worried condition. Now, the junta troops are firing weapons into the villages,” a man from Singu Township told MPA.
Four people injured by the junta’s heavy weapons reportedly were U Mg San aged 60, a monk, 3-year-old and 10-year-old children in Khethin village, Singu Township.
According to local residents, nearly 1,000 local residents of Khetthin village have fled to safety due to heavy artillery.
“Today, they (junta) are firing towards Ywathet Kone village at around 5:00 p.m. We are also fleeing, so we don’t know the exact damage. Ywathet Kone village is adjacent to Khethin village,” said a resident of Khethin Village.
Currently, the junta troops are raiding villages in the townships _ Matara bordering Mandalay and Sagaing Region, Wetlet, Singu, and Thabeikkyin, and civilian deaths are also occurring due to shooting of the junta’s heavy weapons.
Last February 25, a 14-year-old child from Ywataw village, Singu Township, was killed by the junta heavy weapon.
