It was learned from the locals that more than 3,000 displaced people from seven villages, including Nang Toke Village,Pin Laung Township, Innlay Region, in southern Shan State, east of Belu Creek, are in need of food, medicine and blankets.
On March 22, the military junta carried out an airstrike on Nan Toke Village and opened fire with heavy weapons, causing people from nearby villages, including Nang Toke village, to evacuate.
In addition, about 500 of the people who fled the war due to the fighting in Karenni State in February 2022 are also fleeing in Nang Toke village, and they are fleeing the war again.
“There are more than a thousand people living in Nang Toke village. Among them are people who fled the war from the Karenni region. About 30 of them are not running away; they are eating with what is in the village. There is no place to escape; the villagers have already set up huts on the west bank. And it is difficult to carry things here, so there are no donors,” said a resident of Innlay.
On March 22, the military junta bombarded Nang Toke village without any reason, firing heavy weapons almost every day. More than 3,000 local people from Nang Toke, Gone Thar, Eain Mu, Taung Pop Kwe (South and North), and Ho Pan (East and West) villages had to flee to safety.
“Before the plane bombed on March 22, two large weapons were fired. Then the plane bombed and destroyed five houses and a medical center. The large weapons were fired almost every day, and we did not dare to go back into the village,” said a resident of Nang Toke village.
Since January 22nd of this year, fierce fighting between the PNLA Joint Forces and the military junta troops has occurred in Hsihseng, Southern Shan State, and more than 100,000 people from Karenni State and the local people have fled to safety.
After the fighting in Hsihseng Town, the fire of war has spread to Ho Pone and Pin Laung townships, and the military junta has been firing heavy weapons and aerial bombardment almost every day in places where the PNLA joint forces are believed to be.
As a result of the military junta’s aerial bombardment and heavy weapons fire, almost the entire town of Sisai was destroyed, and 49 people, including 10 children, were killed and 64 were injured in the villages of Hsihseng, Ho Pone and Pin Laung Townships.
