It is reported that three residents of the town were killed and two were injured due to military junta troops firing heavy weapons into the town of Yesagyo, Magway Region.
An official from the People’s Strike Committee of Yesagyo Township told MPA that the junta troops stationed at Katkyaw Monastary and Total Offices of Gov in Ward No. 8, Yesagyo Town, opened fire on the town quarters with heavy weapons at around 5:30 a.m., yesterday (March 13).
An official said, “The shells fell Lay Yar Pyay ward, Sita Thukha Ward and Ward No. 8. Many shells fell. One man was hit by a heavy weapon and died on the spot, and the other two died in the hospital.”
The Info Committee Yesagyo reported that three people were killed because of shelling. In addition, a monk from Gugyi Monastery was injured in the leg, and a man from Sitawati Ward was seriously injured due to hitting in his pubic bone.
“There were many damages because the shells fell on houses. I heard that the injured people were sent to the hospital. The houses were also badly damaged,” said an official from the people’s strike committee of YesagyoTownship.
A resident of Yesagyo considered that the military junta troops fired heavy weapons yesterday (March 23), at around 5:30 a.m. in the morning because the defense forces attacked the Katkyaw Monastery base station in Ward No. 8, where they were stationed.
“Yesterday morning, when the defense forces attacked, the soldiers shot back with heavy weapons, heavy weapons fell and hit the people, and the shells were noisy in the whole morning,” he said.
Regarding the attack, MPA contacted the defense forces that carried out the mission but could not be contacted yet.
