The junta’s army burned people’s homes for no reason in Dingar Kyun Village (a Riverine Island), Matara Township, Mandalay Region, it is reported.
A column with 100 soldiers set fire to people’s homes in Dingar Kyun Village, south of Daung Kyun Village, said the responsible person of the village PDF (Pa-Ka-Hpa) of Circle (6), Matara Township.
That column went up the Irrawaddy River from Mandalay Gaw Wein Jetty in two boats, joined forces with members of the military group from Thone Se Pay Village of Pyu Saw Htee Militia in Matara Township, and entered Dingar Kyun and set fire to it.
“They opened fire and entered the village. That’s what the local residents are talking about,” he said.
The responsible person of the Wetlet Information Network Team said that the junta troops were divided into four columns and burned the houses on Dingar Kyun without any battles.
He said, “They (junta troops) started to enter the village of Su Paung Kyun. They burned down houses without any clashes. We built new houses not long ago. The column was divided into four groups and set the village on fire. Their numbers are quite large,” he said.
Due to the entry of the junta’s column, residents of five villages, including Dingar Kyun, have fled to escape the column.
“People are helping each other,” said the responsible person of the village PDF of Circle (6), Matara Township.
The responsible person of the Wetlet Information Network Team said that the convoy was still in Dingar Kyun Village until about 12:30 p.m. today.
