Junta troops tortured and killed two villagers by slitting their throats in Kokekosu Village, Ye-U Township, Shwebo Distrct, Sagaing Region at 11:30 p.m. yesterday (February 6), said Ko James, the responsible person of the Nat Soe Guerrilla Force (LPDF) to MPA.
“The Ogre Column with 80 junta soldiers came from Muthar Village to Kokekosu Village. When the column entered, two of them (the deceased) were in the village. The wounds were many on their bodies. The hands, belly was cut, and the necks were slit. Only knives were used. The column left Kokekosu Village at around 12:30 at night,” explained Ko James.
The two villagers killed by the junta column were 28-year-old Zaw Thein Htike and 31-year-old Thein Than Kywe.
“The exact time of the burial has not yet been announced. Kokekosu Village could be hit if shelled from the side of Ye-U Town,” Ko James added.
At present, the column has reached Htan Taw village in the western part of Ye-U Township, and about 3,000 local people from the villages of Ngayoketan, Than The, Kone Kyi, Kone Tan, and Mote Si have fled.
“When the column entered the village at night, I had to run in a hurry. I couldn’t take warm clothes, so I am cold a lot,” a woman who escaped from the column from Khin U Township said.
The Ogre Column entered Meoe Village, the eastern part of Depayin Township on January 18th, tortured residents and killed Khin Hnin Htay (a female), the law officer, and four other people.
