The junta’s military burnt down Panchi village and shot to die two civilians due to missing three soldiers _ including a Lieutenant from Ohntaw army _ in Sagaing township, Sagaing Region, according to locals.
The military carried out the above action after being raided Panchi village in the early morning today, a Panchi villager said.
“Early this morning, a column from the Ohntaw army raided our village, Panchi. Those who could run escaped and those who could not were arrested. I don’t know how many were arrested. They burned house after house from 7:00 a.m. until noon. We heard two villagers were also killed. I don’t know whether any soldiers are still in the village, so I don’t dare to go back to the village,” a Panchi villager said.
In addition, the junta’s military patrolled Ohntaw village _ which is adjacent to the Ohntaw Army 6005 _ and arrested five civilians. So, the residents of Panchi village and Ohntaw village are fleeing to safety due to such patrol.
“I heard a Lieutenant and two soldiers were missing from the Ohntaw Army yesterday. I’m not sure if those ran away from the army or were captured by the PDFs. They also patrolled Panchi village and burned it down. Five Ohntaw villagers captured by the Ohntaw Army were released. They asked those five villagers to find three missing of them and send them back. They threatened to burn Ohntaw village if those missing couldn’t be sent today,” an Ohntaw villager said.
Ohntaw is located at Sagaing-Shwebo-Monywa road junction and is a big village with about 1000 houses. In 2022, a resistance force was raided in the forest near Panchi village in the east of Ohntaw Village, and 8 comrades were killed in the raid.
