The Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA) announced on April 8 that 3 displaced students were hit, one of them was killed, and the other two were injured by the junta artillery firing on Twaypu village in Hsi Hseng Township, southern Shan State.
Those people were hit by the junta shelling when they went back to Twaypuk village to take drinking water due to a shortage of drinking water, at 10:00 a.m. on April 8.
“The displaced people are already in great trouble. Those have no food and no water. That’s why the 3 girls brought back water for the displaced people. A cow also died by the junta’s heavy weapon on April 7,” said a local woman from Twaypu village.
The girl killed was 18-year-old Nan Sein Mya, and the injured were 21-year-old Nan Repin (b) Nan Htan Kyi and 15-year-old Nan Aye Than, and those injured girls are undergoing emergency treatment at Sao San Tun Hospital in Taunggyi.
The residents of Twaypu Village have been fleeing from fighting in the forest for about a week, so they need food aid.
“When I fled from war, I couldn’t carry anything, just took as much as I could. After a while, there wasn’t much food left. Yesterday, 3 children were hit by the junta shelling, so I feel bad,” said a woman from Twaypu village.
According to local residents, the pro-junta Pa-O Militias (PNO) often demand 50,000 kyats per house in Twaypu village.
The Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA) stated in the announcement that the junta troops _ shooting at Twaypu village _ were the troops and pro-junta PNO joint force _ stationed in villages of Seik Kaung and Lwai Pet in Hsi Hseng Township.
