A bomb blast occurred near the administrator’s house in Kularkone Village, Taikkyi Township, Yangon Region, in the morning on March 30, killing three women trash collectors including children.
A local woman her 40s said that the explosion occurred when trash collectors opened a parcel near the military junta administrator’s house.
“The two girls are around eight and nine years old. The old woman is over 60. They are collectors from the industrial zone; all three of them died there on the spot, and the bodies were taken away by social aid vehicles,” he explained.
A local woman in her 20s added that the administrator’s house is located next to the highway, and after the explosion, military junta troops arrived and conducted road closure inspections.
“It is next to the highway, so people returning from work are also trapped on the highway. People are saying that the PDFs put up the bomb because they are not satisfied with the houses being destroyed. Some also say that the military has deliberately framed the PDFs to incite public hatred. So far, the culprit has not been found,” he said.
A 40-year-old man from the village added that more than 100 public houses were destroyed by military junta forces in Kularkone village on March 28.
“Houses were destroyed because it’s land owned by the military. We have been warned to demolish houses by March 2023 since October 2023. No one demolished houses because they didn’t think they would destroy them like this. We have lived here for fifty or sixty years, and now we all have become homeless, and my house has also been destroyed,” he said.
A bomb blasted near the Sule pedestrian overpass in Yangon on March 27, and at least five people were injured, including children.
