The meeting of Chinland Joint Defense Committee’s Members was reportedly held in a liberated area on December 15 and 16 and then the Chinland Joint Defense Committee (CJDC) was dissolved according to the meeting’s decision.
The Chinland Joint Defense Committee (CJDC) was formed with 18 Groups _ the Chin National Front (CNF/CNA), nine Townships’ Chin Defense Forces, seven Ethnic and Regional Defense Forces and CDF (KKG) _ for the military cooperation of armed resistance forces during the revolution, in August, 2021.
“After the emergence of the Chinland Council (CC), some members of CJDC wanted to join the Defense Department under the Chinland Council (CC), but some of them wanted to join the existing Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC),” the Chin National Organization (CNO) vice president 1, Salai Peter Thang told MPA.
“Especially, in the situation where the whole of Chin State is unable to be united, we advised and discussed keeping (CJDC) as an independent organization instead of coming under one group when there are two groups in Chin. We had no agreement between CJDC members that some want to keep it an independent organization and some want to join under the Chinland Council (CC). At that time, we couldn’t find a solution. In the end, we all decided to dissolve CJDC anyway,” Salai Peter Thang explained.
The Chinland Council Conference was held at Victoria Base in Chin State for 4 days, with a total of 235 people _ representatives from the Chin National Front, Chin Hluttaw, Township and Regional Groups _ and other guests from international and domestic, and the Chinland Council had announced Chiland Constitution approved in the conference, on December 7.
The Zomi Federal Union (ZFU), PDF Zoland, Chin Defense Force (Mindat), Chin National Organization (CNO)/Chin National Defense Force (CNDF) and Chin Defense Force (Kanpatlet) _ which represents the townships of Tedim, Mindat, Falang and Kanpatlet _ did not attend to the Chinland Council Conference.
“Right now, we will no longer negotiate under the title CJDC, but, if necessary, we will only negotiate with the groups that are in the Chinland Council and the groups that are not in the Chinland Council. We will not be weakened in the revolution and the military,” Salai Peter Thang continued.
A man living in Kanpetlet said regarding the dissolution of the CJDC, “I heard that. I am not too worried about the dissolution of the CJDC. I don’t think it was because they are not united. I just see them as having different views because it was during the revolution. Anyway, it will be because everyone has difficulties. I don’t see it as a big problem.”
The Chinland Joint Defense Committee (CJDC) was able to form CJDC Special Commando with troops from its various groups, and it has reportedly achieved some success in operations as a military focal point.
