It is reported that about 20,000 residents from the northern part of Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region have urgently been fleeing from the military column in the rain for about two weeks.
Comrade SKB from one of the local defense forces said that until today (October 20th), residents of 11 villages have been fleeing as the SAC troops have been raiding in the northern part of Kanbalu since October 7th.
“Many people get sick because they are fleeing in the rain. Mostly children and the elderly are getting more ill. And now that the season is changing, flu is common. Medicines are in need. Also, we have to deal with the folk medicines we have. If we go out to buy them, we are afraid of being arrested,” he said.
An official from the Infinity Group, which reports local revolution news, said that the SAC Army was sending provisions to military camps in Chat Gyi Village, Chat Thin Village, and Kotaungbo Village and raiding the villages at the same time.
“When people had to avoid the column in the rain, when it was raining heavily, at 8 o’clock in the evening on the 12th, a father and his son were struck by lightning near Wetthainn village. I heard that they were buried nearby the next day,” he said.
The villages of the people who are currently fleeing are Sanchaung Char, Hpalar Ya, Inma, Pint Thar, Ma Kyee Gone (Ma), Oak Khin, Pint Thar Gyi, Nyang Kan Thar, Hle Pway, Tamar Gone and Sar Kyin Village.
“Meanwhile, on a rainy night, I can’t sleep all night, so I have to stand in a small shelter where I can get as much as. That night, the water rose up to my knees, so the people got sick and this time, it’s the worst thing since I’ve ever fled from the column,” said a woman who fled from the military column.
According to the official of Infinity Group, the local PDFs are attacking the column with landmines every day, and the soldiers are being wounded.
Today (October 20th), the SAC troops are reported to have arrived in the Chatthin Circle (the circle is larger than the village tract).
