The father and daughter were killed on the spot as a shell fired by the junta troops exploded into Thone Sel Village in Naung Cho Township, Northern Shan State.
On May 10, at around 8 pm., a shell fired by the junta troops stationed in Ommathi Village, Naung Cho Township, right struck a house in Thone Sel Village, injuring five people, according to some locals.
“Last night (May 10th), there were four shells fired. Three of them exploded. One remain intact. One of the three directly struck the house,” a witness told MPA.
The deceased were a 60-year-old man and his 23-year-old daughter, while the injured four members of the same family were also in critical condition.
A 20-year-old couple, their four-year-old son and the deceased woman’s husband were seriously injured, a 60-year-old man next door was also not seriously injured, and the injured were taken to Pyin Oo Lwin Public Hospital.
“The heavy weapons are being fired while we are on the phone. I think they recklessly fired towards Thayetkone. But it only hits the people,” said a local resident near the Thone Sel village at around 7:00 pm. today (May 11).
After the MDY-PDF occupied the military camp in Thayetkone Village, Naung Cho Township, on April 15th, the junta troops have conducted ground advances to regain control of the camp, as well as firing heavy weapons every day, MPA investigated.
