It is reported that the revolutionary forces in Pale Township, Sagaing Region are mainly attacking the SAC Army by using low-cost handmade landmines.
This year, 60 percent of landmine attacks against the SAC Army in Pale Township, and 40 percent of confrontations, ambushes, and intercepted clashes, said Bo Min Ko of the 27th PDF Battalion of Yinmabin District.
“There are many types of mines. There are also some mines mounted on drones. Typical landmines and control landmines, the price is around MMK 80,000, so the cost is low,” said a member of Pale Township People’s Administration Team.
He said that the revolutionary forces in Pale Township usually attack the SAC Army with landmines first and then carry out a subsequent attack.
“Rather than a battle mainly, we have to look at the ground situation and fight. If we fight face-to-face battles, we fight with small arms rather than landmines in protected camps. We also do intercept attacks. We attack military convoys with landmines,” he said.
On October 4th and 5th, the Black Peacock Force based in Pale and the Chindwin Tonayar Force launched landmine attack for three times with 36 mines in Lelngauk Village, the southwest of Yinmabin Township, killing around 15 soldiers and wounding many more, said Comrade Pae, the leader of the Black Peacock Guerrilla Force (the 10th Battalion Yinmabin District PDF).
“On the 4th at 3:30 p.m., we attacked the convoy with landmines once, on the 5th at 2:30 a.m., for twice and on the 5th at 8 a.m. for thrice, they fired back indiscriminately,” said Comrade Pae.
The SAC convoy included two high-wheeled vehicles, 10 trucks (FAW) and four iron-covered vehicles.
“The first time we exploded a landmine against those they had ambushed, about 5 soldiers were killed. At one point in the morning, more than 10 were killed. Many were injured,” he added.
MPA cannot independently confirm the deaths and injuries of soldiers.
