It is reported that more than 30 villages are suffering from food shortages due to the fact that the SAC Military has started to cut off by four ways the PDF forces in the Bago Yoma in Paungde township, Bago Region.
“Since July 1, the military gate stations have prevented the sale of rice from Paukkhaung Township to the mountain villages of Paungde Township, and the residents of more than 30 villages in 5 village groups are facing food shortages and only have about a week’s worth of food,” said local residents.
“The main PDF support means that we can no longer transport rice, oil, and medicine to our villages from the city. It has been 3 months since the permission to transport rice was closed from the village. But there is still no problem. Now it is closed in Paukkaung township, so everything is in trouble. In Taung Khamak village, there is no one. The shopkeepers have fled to nearby places,” said a resident of Taung Khamok.
At the night of July 11, it is reported that 3 people from Nat Yetwin village in Paungde township, were arrested by a column that was patrolling around the Bago Yoma, accusing to be supporting the PDF, and they have not been released to this day.
“Young people no longer live in the village. They are called and searched for no reason. If they are accused of being a PDF, they will often be arrested. People no longer live in many villages. Soon, our villages in the mountain area will starve. Right now, there is only one week’s worth of food left,” he said.
It is investigated that when exporting rice and oil from Paukkaung town to the villages in the mountains, only 3 bags of rice and 5 pounds of oil per car are allowed. If they do not comply, they will arrest and confiscate the items.
