It was learned from Shwebo District Battalion-15 (Eagle Guerrilla Force) that about 30 soldiers were killed and many wounded when the PDF joint forces waited for and attacked the SAC troops who raided village by village and burned them.
Today (July 13th) at around 4:30 in the morning, while the SAC column was coming out of Kanthonesint village, Myinmu Township with a force of about 100 soldiers, the PDF joint forces ambushed at the entrance of Khwetkhwin village.
“When the column advanced from Kanthonesint Village and went up the tarmac road through bushes, we took cover inside the ditch and shot at them. It was very close. About 30 troops died in shambles at the entrance of Khwetkhwin village. I witnessed the death of a corporal, a lieutenant corporal, a sergeant, and a platoon commander. Because we fired at them first, they suffered more casualties. We didn’t have time to pick up weapons. We retreated. Two mobile phones and one walkie-talkie were left. We heard back that the bodies were piled on the wayside public resthouse,” said Section Commander Comrade Yarma from the Shwebo District Battalion-15 (Eagle Guerrilla Force).
He said that after the battle, the injured were taken to Khwetkhwin village and they have camped in the village, and the Northwest Regional Military Command (Na-Ma-Kha) is trying to send reinforcements by helicopter.
The attack was jointly carried out by Kyaukse District Battalion-1 (Red Dragon Battalion), Myingyan District Battalion-7 (Zero Guerrilla Force), Shwebo District Battalion-19, and Shwebo District Battalion-15 (Eagle Guerrilla Force).
The MPA could not separately confirm the casualties of the soldiers.
It is reported that since July 7th, the SAC Military has been continuously raiding and setting fire in Myinmu Township, causing more than 6,000 people to escape from their columns.
