On Jan. 30, around 4:00 p.m., the army set fire to Kantaw Village, Pakokku Township, Magway Region.
According to an official from a local People’s Defense Force, more than 60 houses were burned down after the convoy of the military council army and Pyu Saw Htee entered and marched, but it has not been confirmed yet.
“They accused having PDFs in the village, and burning the village as a collaboration between the PDF and the villagers, causing the villagers to flee,” he said.
In addition to the burning down of Kantaw village yesterday evening, the SAC troops also opened fire heavy weapons on Kanyet Gyi village, which is about two miles north of Kantaw village, and more than 1,000 people have fled to safety, Pakokku local media reported.
As of this morning, it is known that local residents have not been able to return to the village and are still fleeing.
