It is reported that more than 10,000 local residents are fleeing the war and are in need of assistance because the SAC Military forces are patrolling and burning down the villages in Kanbalu District in Sagaing Region.
Kyunhla activists group said that the displaced people are living roughly in the forest field without shelter. Due to it is winter, they need warm clothes, blankets, shelters, food and medicine.
The Infinity Group expressed that at around 6:30 a.m. today, Taungywa Saik village in Kyunhla Township, which has more than 200 houses, was set on fire by Infantry Battalion (KhaMaYa-368) and Pyusawhti under the SAC Military, and 128 houses and some barns were burnt to ashes”.
An official from the Kyunhla activists group said that the number of displaced people is gradually increasing. The Military is being patrolled every day. More than 10,000 people in 14 villages in these two townships are fleeing to safety. There are many needs and as it is winter, they need warm clothes, blankets, medicine, and food.
Since 6 January, 14 villages between Kanbalu and Kyunhla Townships had been surrounded, and were being patrolled and burned down by the SAC Military. As a result, the residents were fleeing to safety by leaving their homes.
In addition to burning down villages, the SAC Military had arrested and killed the people, and looted and stolen the public properties, and killed and eaten the domestic animals of the villages.
“If the displaced people are caught, they are also killed. The two villagers of Kyartakan village were caught in their tent, and one was burned to death and the other was shot in his head by a gun,” said by an official from the Kyunhla activists’ group.
On 6 and 7 January, U Htun Hla (58 years old) and Ko Nyi Aung (30 years old) from Kyartakan village were arrested and killed. U Maung Tun (b) Kyittaw (40 years old) from Shan Kone village in Pintha Township; Ko Kyaw Soe Moe (b) Bobo (30 years old) and Ko San Myint Aung (b) Kyit Khaung (27 years old) from Taepyin village in Pintha Township, were taken as hostages and were also killed by the SAC Military.
