It is reported that after the attack on the police station in Payathonzu, which is a town on the Thai-Myanmar border, two local residents were hit by a bullet fired by the Military, and one was seriously injured.
A local said that in this morning at 5:30 a.m., the revolution forces attacked the police station in Payathonzu town in Kyainseikgyi township, Karen State, and the police car inside the police station was fired, and three policemen were injured.
“At first, they thought the police station was on fire. It calmed down, but then a police constable’s car was on fire. I also heard that 3 people were hit in the police station. Although they said, it was the police, but it is not sure if it was soldiers or BGF. It is unknown the condition of the people who were hit. One local was seriously injured by a heavy weapon,” he said.
Some local social networks reported that after the attack on the police station, the Military and the BGF returned fire with heavy weapons, and some of the local’s houses were hit by heavy bullets and damaged.
A resident of Payathonzu town said that the gunshots stopped around 7:00 a.m., they said that a few shops even on the Thai side were hit, but there have been no sightings. The whole town was quiet all morning, but around noon, people came back out. There is not many”.
It is known that it is not yet known surely the condition of damages, and some of those who fled to the border of Thai have returned.
It has not yet been released what group is responsible for today’s attack.
In the last week of January, the revolutionary forces raided and set fire to the general administration office, municipal office, immigration office, and Sarafa office (Military affairs security force office) in Payathonzu town.
