The Myanmar Embassy said that Myanmar people working in Singapore as nurses will no longer be allowed to renew their passports, and only if those submit an appeal to the military regime, they will be allowed to renew, according to a person who personally experienced it.
According to a person who personally experienced it, the Myanmar embassy staff made people _ who went to renew their passports at the Myanmar embassy in Singapore _ wait for a long time, and the staff said her waiting for renew that she couldn’t renew her passport because of the health law and that they would allow to renew it only if an appeal was submitted to the military junta.
“They told me that I must write a petition with the exact address of the family members from Myanmar and submit it to the current military regime. If so, they will extend it. If I can’t do it, they will not make an extension. They said they could make it only if the Myanmar side allowed them to renew it, they could do it. So, I came back without being extended,” a woman working as a nurse in Singapore told MPA.
She added that she is not a CDM, but she is no longer entitled to such an extension.
“I am not a CDM. Before the military coup, I went to work in Singapore. But the day I left Singapore was the day of the coup, so they must have registered it. I don’t know what to do now that I can’t renew. Like me, other friends who are nurses in Singapore can’t get an extension,” she explained.
Regarding this issue, a CDM nurse working in Singapore said, “If not CDM, even those who have been working before can’t be entitled to extend. It is certain that CDM staff are no longer to renew. I don’t know how I can stay working in Singapore. If there are people who can help, I want to be helped.”
The CDM nurses working in Singapore requested that Myanmar nurses working in Singapore may face a lot of difficulties because they are no longer allowed to renew their passports, that’s why they requested that the NUG government would like to help if they can take measures to help.
