It is reported that more than 100 recruits have joined Myaing PDF since the forced conscription law was enacted.
Most of the people who came in contact were from Mandalay Region, and the people in Myaing Town were those who did not want to serve in the military and came to seek refuge, said Major Letyar, in charge of Myaing PDF.
“From our area, we entered before the military service law was enacted, so there is nothing special about it. After the military service law was passed, many people joined. But from the beginning, they were already our own people,” he said.
He said that those who joined the Myaing PDF were given military training and weapons at once.
He said that more than 300 families who came from Myaing Town to seek refuge after enacting the forced conscription law were also accommodated.
” There are also junta employees in the town who contacted us to flee,” he said.
A person in charge of Ward and Village PDF in Myaing Township said that it is the best decision to come to the revolutionary areas without serving in the military, showing compassion to the revolutionary soldiers who are working for the sake of people.
“I don’t see anything special about those who entered after the military service law was passed. We can do our best for them without joining the enemy. Even if they didn’t participate in the revolution from the beginning, it is best to join us instead of joining them (the military junta) at a time when the revolution is at such a good pace,” he said.
Those who do not want to serve in the military can either join the Myainf PDF as soldiers and fight back against the junta, or they can come and take refuge.
