Sarlingyi Information Team told MPA that on May 8, around 3:00 p.m., the SAC troops entered Nyaung Pin Gyi Htan Taw (Zaik Seik) in Sarlingyi Township, Sagaing Region, with more than 150 troops, burning down 12 public houses and destroying 20 motorcycles.
It is said that the column started to leave Sarlingyi town in the early morning of May 8th, and at around three o’clock in the afternoon, the local defense forces attacked with mines while crossing the river from Than Taw port.
“While the Defense Forces were carrying out mine attacks, the SAC troops opened fire recklessly. Shops, houses, and motorcycles near the port were burned down,” explained an official from the Sarlingyi Information Team.
It was also learned that this is the second time that the SAC troops have burned down the homes and property in that area.
At present, some people in the area are fleeing, and after the SAC column left, local residents from the surrounding area are also cleaning up the areas where the fire burned.
