It is reported that more than 4,000 homes were destroyed by the SAC troops in Khin U Township, Sagaing Region, and more than 15,000 people were left homeless.
Since the coup d’état until February 15th, more than 4,000 houses in 66 villages have been burned down by the SAC troops, Khin U Township Right News Information reported.
“Most of the people who burnt their villages in our Sagaing had to flee because their lives are more important than their belongings, their lives matter, not their properties, so they just run away. So, everything they had searched for and collected all their lives was gone. That’s why they really need help,” said a person helping those who fled the war in Khin U Township.
Khin U Township Right News Information reported that the 100-troops SAC military raided at least 10 villages this week, beginning on February 11th, and burning 7 villages until February 15th.
It is reported that on February 15, the SAC troops and Pyu Saw Htee arrived at Chaung Sone Village, set fire to the houses, and took away public goods to Mekyee Tone Pyu Saw Htee Village.
“We still don’t know the number of houses that have burned down in the intersection. We didn’t know until this morning,” said the person helping those who fled the war.
On February 13th and 14th, the SAC troops burned down more than 200 houses, thousands of rice baskets and rice mills in Laung She Village, on February 13th they burned more than 200 houses and thousands of rice baskets (one basket can hold one bushel approximately) in Letpanhla Village, on February 12th – 33 houses in Min Kangyi Village and 1 home in Kun Taing Village, on February 11th they burned down 11 houses including two temporary huts of people affected by fire in Thanat Sein Village and people affected by fire in Sawgyi Village.
