According to the local residents, a young local girl was killed and two others were injured when the military junta attacked Mrauk U Township, Rakhine State, with a long-range missile.
“It happened around 9:00 a.m. today (15th). I don’t know whether it was a plane or something. We didn’t hear the plane, but we knew it when we heard the explosion. It fell in Ywa Haung Taw Village. A girl, aged about 16 or 17, was killed. Two other girls were also hit,” explained a resident of Ywa Haung Taw Village.
Currently, the injured have been sent to the civil hospital for medical treatment, and some local residents are also concerned about the explosion, he added.
After the Arakan Army (AA) occupied Mrauk U Town, there has been no clash between the Military Junta and the Arakan Army, but the junta is still carrying out bombing attacks, according to local residents.
“It can be said that it was shot with a long-range missile. They shot at the Koe Thaung Temple. But it did not hit the temple; it fell in Ywa Haung Taw Village next to it. Locals were hiding in bomb shelters,” said a Mrauk U resident.
It is learned that the junta bombed the village of Tain Nyo, Mrauk U Township, Rakhine State, without any fighting on March 11th.
“Mrauk U was bombed two times after the AA occupied it. Tim Nyo was also bombarded the other day. There were no injuries at that time, but the houses were damaged. This time, it was not by plane. We only knew it when we heard the explosion. We didn’t have time to prepare in advance. People were also hit. They are attacking the people in various ways,” said a resident of Mrauk U.
During the resurgence battles, houses of Mrauk U residents were destroyed due to the attacks of the military junta, the ruins of the ancient palace, the archaeological museum, and the ancient stupas as well.
