The military junta fired with heavy weapons the village of Taung Pote Kwal in Inlay area, Nyaung Shwe township, southern Shan State, destroying a pagoda of the village, according to a ground military source.
The military deliberately opened fire on the village of Taung Pote Kwal without a fight at 8:55 p.m. on April 30, 2024, according to the ground military source.
“They are fighting on the east bank south of Inlay. The village of Taung Pote Kwal that was shot is not far from the place of war, and it is not a military target,” he said.
The military air force launched aerial bombardments on the village of Nanton on March 22, and due to firing heavy weapons daily, more than 3,000 people from the villages _ Nantot, Kone Thar, Eainmu, Taung Pote Kwal, Myauk, Hopan, Nyaung Paypin and Repu _ have fled till now, according to a local.
“It’s been more than a month, and some of the displaced people have relatives from other villages, so they are convenient in living, but some of them have problems with both food and health,” he said.
Currently, the Inlay Women’s Union provides health care, clothes and food to the people fleeing the war in the Inlay region, according to an official of the Inlay Women’s Union.
“I don’t know how many times a month. If there are displaced people, we go to places where there are more difficulties and provide health care to the elderly and the sick. And we help as much as we can with the necessary food, dry rations, and clothes,” said an official of Inlay Women’s Union.
After the military coup, the junta troops opened fire with air attacks and heavy weapons without distinguishing civilian targets, many monasteries and pagodas were destroyed. But pro-junta supporters ignore these events and often hold protests claiming that the revolutionary forces destroyed the pagodas.
