The military junta is forcing each village to provide five people for military service in the villages of Southern Rakhine State – according to locals.
The southern region of Rakhine State is the land that can be controlled by the military junta, and the army is forcibly demanding people for military service.
“They make people draw lots. The ward and village governors came to ask for five people. The village next to us is for three,” said a resident of a village in Thandwe Township.
It is said that in such a demand for military service, local residents aged 30 to 55 years old are being selected, including men as well as women.
As a result, local residents are panicking, and many residents are fleeing their villages.
“People from Thit Ngoke to Village have all runaway. What they think is that if they run, they don’t need to join the army. They think simply. We don’t know where the army will send those who have been selected by lot,” said a local woman from the village.
The Junta Army is losing the war in Rakhine State, and the Arakan Army has occupied at least five towns, including Paletwa and Mrauk U, and has a good potential to occupy Sittwe City, the capital of Rakhine State, according to military analysts.
