The two people who were killed by PDF’s bullets on the expressway along with Major Than Htut, who was in charge of Yangon Region’s interrogation, were those who were reporting to the military under the guise of UG.
On Jan. 22 at about 1:45 PM, near Milepost 161 of Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, Yangon Region Interrogation Officer Major Than Htut and Sergeant Myint Aung were accompanied by two fake informers of the SAC.
It received a report that two fake SAC informers accompanied Yangon Region’s Interrogation Officer Major Than Htut and Sergeant Myint Aung near milepost – 161 of Yangon Mandalay Expressway on Jan. 22 at about 1:45 PM. While the PDFs arrested them, the PDFs shot because the arrested resisted, and all were dead, the Bago Region PDF announced today.
The two people who accompanied Major Than Htut were formerly part of an urban guerrilla force, but after being arrested by the military, they returned to work under the SAC and obtained information from revolutionary organizations.
“Since May 2022, there have been enemy infiltrations into our UG forces. We also know that. We know that they are infiltrating, but we also want to get the information we want from them again. Now, since we had obtained the information we want today, we did it precisely,” said Sayar Kyaung in charge of the Yangon UG Association (YUA).
The two informers who accompanied Major Than Htut and Sergeant Myint Aung were a man and a woman, and they have not disclosed their names out of respect for their previous revolutionary activities, according to Sayar Kyaung.
“The two were arrested by the SAC and put under control, and they spied on us again. Because of this, we did not fire and clear them. We suffered losses because of them. Although we brought them to the camp to find out what they had done, we had to fire and clear them because they tried to escape,” he continued.
The YUA was aware of the infiltration of SAC informers, but they were kept in the group to get information about the military from them, and they did so at the same time as they received valid information.
It is reported that the SAC informers within the YUA have been verified and 99 percent is already clear.
