It is reported that in Lamaing town in Ye Township in Mon State, the soldiers returning from school after taking Military children to school by security, were attacked and five soldiers were killed.
At around 9:00 in this morning, the Ye Guerrilla Force-YGF attacked, for 5 minutes, 6 soldiers of the Artillery Battalion No. (317) who were riding 3 motorcycles near Ywathet village of Mokkaning village groups in Lamaing town.
“The soldiers of the Artillery Battalion No. (317) were sending the soldiers’ children to school by taking security. We shot these guys when they only were retuning from school because we worried children would be hit. The 5 out of 6 soldiers were killed. One was still wounded and shot back. When we were close to the 317 Battalion, we picked up as many weapons as we could and retreated. We could pick up only 3 guns not 5 guns,” Saw Khit Thit, in charge of information and communication of YGF, said.
It is known that three weapons that are MA1, MA3 and MA40 weapons were seized after the attack, but MPA could not be confirmed the death of five soldiers yet.
At around 6:30 a.m. in the morning, on January 18, the YGF attacked the local police station in Htinshu village, Thanbyuzayat Township, and three policemen were killed.
