The People’s Administration of Pakokku Township urged people to provide confidential information that the people who participated in the door-to-door population census for an illegal election to the nearby revolutionary forces.
On Jan. 12, the People’s Administration of Pakokku Township announced that if those who cooperated in the illegal election process to be held by the SAC in Pakokku township do not stop, they would be punished according to the law.
” I would like to urge the people to resist the military council, which is preparing for the election by taking a household census, and using common sense so as not to cause harm to themselves. As the revolutionary forces, we also promise to fight the fraudulent election by relying on weapons and forceful collection of household census, also people have to do as much as they can,” said an official of Pakokku Township – PDF.
According to a resident of Ward No. 6, in Pakokku city, non-CDM staff, including soldiers, police, and Pyu Saw Htee (militias of the SAC), have been collecting population censuses door-to-door since Jan. 9.
“Two people of theirs enter a house, they ask the name of the head of the household and ask them the name, occupation, and registration number of the person in the household register, checking the information they have is different or not,” said a resident of Ward No. 1.
The door-to-door population census in Pakokku city was conducted by six non-CDM employees, and the security force consisted of about 40 soldiers and police.
