The military junta reportedly killed 80 local people in Kalay, Sagaing Region, within 3 months.
According to the Kalay People’s Strike Committee, the list of people deaths is the closest toll collected in February, March, and April, but the deaths on the ground may be higher than this list.
“Of the deaths, 65 percent were women. The remaining 15 percent were men. Another 20 percent were children,” said an official from the Kalay People’s Strike Committee.
According to the statement of the Kalay People’s Strike Committee on April 11, the military junta killed 15 people from Kalay town, 30 people from northern Kalay, and 35 people from southern Kalay, within 3 months.
He said that 5 civilians were killed on the spot due to the military’s excessive firing with heavy weapons and deliberate firing with drone bombs into civilian areas, in mid-March.
“People in the international community should not neglect the death of civilians and should cooperate with the local residents to take necessary measures for the blocks that can counter-damage the military,” said a doctor in Kalay, who does not want to be named for security reasons.
The Kalay People’s Strike Committee has appealed to residents to follow the announcements issued by the revolutionary forces.
