The Karenni IDP Assistance Network reported that junta’s Air Force carried out an airstrike on LaeiVillage’s hospital in Phekhon Township, Shan State without any battle, killed two people.
A MiG-29 jet fighter from Taung Ngoo Air Force Base bombed a hospital in Laei Village, PekhonTownship for four times at around 10:00 a.m. today (March 22nd), killing one man aged around 40 and a young man aged around 16.
“Today, the military junta bombed Laei Hospital by air. The latest news is that two displaced people have died. Around 60 percent of the building has been damaged,” said an official from Karenni IDP Assistance Network.
It is also known that there was no fighting in Laei Village where were hit by the airstrike and its surrounding villages.
“Only the same jet fighter bombed for four times. It didn’t take so long from one time to one time. It went around and bombed. Two 500-pound bombs were dropped for once. Two IDPs were killed. They were living in a house not far from the hospital. We have not received the list of injuries yet. We received advance notice, so we moved the patients and some belongings from the hospital in advance,” said (Ko) Thar Gyi from Karenni Hope.
About 60 percent of the Laei Hospital building was damaged due to the air attack, but the patients and equipment were not harmed due to the evacuation in advance.
