Locals said that junta troops burned down the villages of Thinpyun, Seikkone, Pyoekan and Kanswei within two days in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region.
A military column with around 60 forces that came out of Myingyan Town entered Thinpyun village and burned it down at around 6:00 a.m. on March 12, the information officer of the Natogyi PDF (Pa-Ka-Hpa) under the NUG told MPA.
“They (junta troops) came in and opened fire early in the morning. Those who ran away escaped, but a 60-year-old woman was sleeping and woke up in the fire. She couldn’t run and burned to death,” the information officer said.
After burning Thinpyun Village, the junta column fired with a 60mm mortar at Kanswei Village, entered Seikkone Village and set it on fire at around 7:00 p.m, he continued to explain.
In addition, the military column that came out from the Nabuaing-Myingyan Road Section with a force of about 60 troops entered the villages of Pyoekan and Kansue at about 6:00 a.m. on March 13 and destroyed them by fire, he said.
“Yesterday, that column slept in Hteinpan Village and came out to Pyoekan Village. Pyoekan was set on fire from both sides, and then they set fire to Pyoekan Village again when they returned. It is difficult to know the state of damage because the column hasn’t left the village,” he said.
On March 11th, defense forces attacked a car carrying junta soldiers on Myingyan-Myothae Road; therefore, it is possible that two columns entered and destroyed the villages continuously, said a local defense soldier from Myingyan.
“That day, these guys were hit a lot. Soldiers were dead. We could seize six guns, so it can be considered that they are not satisfied with this case and have been burning villages since yesterday (12th),” he said.
Locals said that it is hard to know the state of damage to the villages. The column that burned down the villages of Thinpyun and Seikkone on 12th is burning Thinpyun Village again today (13th).
