It was reported that Operation 1107 started in Mese Town in Kayah (Karenni) State and revolutionary forces captured three camps of the military junta, killing at least 70 soldiers.
The operation started early in the morning of November 7 in Mese, and three camps, including Pantein (a BGF camp in the past), were captured, a reliable military source said.
“The battle has been going on in Mase for about 5 days. Now, because of the fighting to seize camps in the northern part (of Shan State), the military junta has stopped providing air support. That’s why the revolutionary forces gathered in Karenni today and started Operation 1107,” he said.
An official of the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) said that four soldiers from the Karenni Allied Revolutionary Forces were killed during the battle.
“After seizing three camps in the evening, the battle is calm. Today, on the day of Operation 1107, four soldiers were killed. It is not yet known which battalion they were from. They (revolutionary forces) also could seize a lot of weapons and ammunition. At least 70 soldiers (SAC troops) died,” he said.
Despite the intense fighting at Melayu at border point 3712, near the east bank of the Thanlwin River in Mase Township, the military junta did not send air support, a soldier of the Ka-La-La-Ta (Karenni National People’s Liberation Front) who is on the battlefield said.
“We have been cutting off supplies to Mase for a long time. The battle was also happening in the previous days. Today, the SAC army has not been doing anything to fill up the resources of its camps for about 5 days, so we started the battle to seize the camp. All the soldiers (SAC troops) retreated at around 4:30 p.m. The battle has been calm until now (8:00 p.m.) in Mase,” he said.
It was reported that the military junta had not launched an air strike as of 8:15 p.m. on November 7.
MPA could not confirm the deaths of the soldiers independently.
