The military junta launched air attacks on Kangni village, Htichaik Township, Kathar District, Sagaing Region, without a fight, injuring 7 people and destroying some houses and buildings, according to local residents.
Two jet fighters (A5) from Mandalay’s Tada-U Air Base dropped bombs on Kangni village about 5 times and also fired into the village with machine guns, at around 2:00 p.m. on April 24.
“There is no fighting. The military can’t patrol anymore. They can only bomb. It may be bombing with false information that they thought PDFs might be in the village,” a Tigyaing Revolution – TR official told MPA.
Due to the aerial bombardment by the military junta, Ko Zaw Thet Soe, Ko Khin Zaw Aye, Ko Aung Thet Oo, Ko E-Tie, Ma Khaing Thin Kyi, Ma Pyae Pyaee Aung, and Ma Htay New were hit to injure by the bombs.
“About 4 houses were destroyed. Roads were destroyed. Shops were also on fire. A bomb fell in the middle of the village. So, villagers are worried that it will happen again,” said a woman from Kangni Village.
Last April 16 during Thingyan, the military junta carried out aerial bombardments on Nyaung Ping Kwin Village in Htichaik Township and Inywa Village on the other bank of the Irrawaddy River, according to a man from Inwa village.
Currently, most residents from the townships of Htichaik, Kathar, Indaw, Kawlin, Wuntho, and Bhamouk _ are reportedly fleeing from war to the townships of Mandalay, Mohnyin, Mogaung, and Myitkina.
Local resistance forces started the town-capture battle of Htichaik on November 8 last year, and after that, the military between both sides has been fierce until now.
