It was reported that the SAC has arrested a CDM teacher who shared on social media about the Mung Lai Hkyet IDP camp in Laiza, Kachin State, which was bombed by the SAC.
A CDM teacher living in Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region, was arrested by the SAC on October 12th at around 3:30 p.m. after Han Nyein Oo which is a SAC propaganda telegram channel posted a message to arrest the teacher for posting content related to the Mung Lai Hkyet IDP camp on social media.
“It posted on Telegram to arrest her, but they (SAC) don’t know the exact address, so they ordered Hot Pot for MMK 60,000 and when they found out the address, she was arrested at her home by the Amarapura police station,” said a local resident of Amarapura.
The arrested teacher was involved in the CDM movement after the military coup and was also making a living selling hotpot food.
“When the teacher posts on Facebook, she shares posts for friend only, and the person who sent about her took a screenshot of the teacher’s posts, sent them to the pro-military telegram channels to arrest her, and then she was arrested like this,” explained a local.
The arrested CDM teacher posted on social media the news of the attack on the Mung Lai Hkyet IDP camp, as well as encouraged the NUG and PDF and provided monthly support to the MPDF, the SAC Propaganda Telegram channels expressed.
“The teacher has been joining CDM since the coup, and now CDM people from Mandalay have been forced to do non-CDM back by the SAC. She didn’t even do things like that. She just sells food to make a living by herself,” said a young man from Aung Myay Thar San Township, who is close to the arrested teacher.
In addition, starting from the 1st of this month (October), the SAC has restricted men from riding a motorcycle together in Amarapura Township, as well as casually checked guest lists at night in some neighborhoods, according to local residents.
“People give a guest list to them once a month, and they have to pay for it. They (SAC) including administrators tend to check at 12 or 1 o’clock in the night. If you don’t, you will be fined. On the 2nd of this month, a young man was arrested after checking the guest list. I still don’t know why. They are acting as if there’s nothing that they dare do not. It’s not safe to even stay in my own house,” said a local resident of Amarapura.
After the coup by the junta SAC, arrests were made from February 2022 to September 2023, with 1,316 people arrested for writing and speaking in support of the military and supporting the Spring Revolution organizations on social networking sites. Almost half of those arrested are from Yangon and Mandalay regions, according to Data for Myanmar.
