It is reported that around 10,000 IDPs in Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, have not been able to return to their homes for more than 2 months.
As the SAC troops are repairing the Mandalay-Myitkyina railway section in the Wetlet Township, they have taken security with around 200 soldiers, and they are burning down the villages along the railway tracks, so the locals are fleeing.
“The displaced people are sitting in tents in the fields as if they are comfortable. They have no food, so they rent the money. Some of them borrow money and have food by paying 3 Kyats in increments for rice and sesame,” said Lieutenant Kauk Yoe, the battalion commander of Shwebo District Battalion-15 (Eagle Guerrilla Force).
These IDPs are local residents from Khek Kha, Samoon, Kyung Utaw, Thangyi Bhuta, Pa Thu Gyi, Unne Bod, Phok Kan, Ye Ping Kan, We Lui, Uy Thar, Thar Bung and Thone Chant Kan villages in the eastern part of Wetlet Township.
“Food, shelter, and medicine have become the main needs. Those who return to the village for a short time because of the need are killed by the SAC military. The people are only the people, so help them as much as you can,” said a person helping the IDPs.
“Those displaced people have little access to aid, so they have to skimp on whatever they get, and it is difficult for living and food,” said Lieutenant Kauk Yoe.
Some of those IDPs have fled since July and others were forced to leave their homes in August and are staying away from the war in a safe place in Wetlet Township.
