According to local residents, a CDM health staff and a paralytic patient from Khmei village, Tamu Township, Sagaing Region, were shot by the SAC military and both were killed.
On September 8, at around 6:00 in the morning, around 200 strong of the SAC troops and Pyusawhti (SAC militias) stationed in Phatha village of Pyusawhti, entered Khmei village through Nang Moonta village and did the shooting. MPA has not been able to confirm why they shot those people.
“He is KO Thar Nge. He is a former Health staff. Now he does CDM. He is 29 years old. When he was returning from the farm, he met the SAC troops and was killed by 3 shots fired by the SAC. And the other one is U Thaung Khoran. He is paralyzed. He is about 48 years old. They also shot him in his house,” a resident of Khmei village told MPA.
It is said that the SAC troops and Pyusawhti entered Khmei village, took belongings of the residents, and destroyed the homes, and then left to Phatha village at around 1:00 p.m.
“2 Khamei villagers were also arrested. They also arrested 4 people from Yan Nyein Aung village. The 4 people from Yan Nyein Aung village were released. The two Khmate villagers have not been released yet. We don’t know if they are dead or alive,” the resident continued.
There is a military tension between the SAC troops and the local defense forces in Tamu Township, and it was investigated that a battle took place near the village of Witok on September 6.
