It is reported that around 3,000 people in 6 villages have fled their homes due to the SAC troops are patrolling by firing heavy weapons in Ngazun Township, Mandalay Region.
It is known from Ngazun PDF, “On August 16, at around 5 o’clock in the morning, 2 columns fired with heavy weapons and small arms and entered in Aung Thukha village in Ngazun township and burned down nearly 60 houses”.
A column was more than 70 strong and came down with the SAC’s 2 ships and 6 boats along the Irrawaddy River from Simi Goon Harbor in Myingyan Township, and was stationed at Yebadai Harbor in Ngazun Township. An another column of around 70 soldiers that was patrolling from Ngazun town stationed in the village of Kantha village.
“A column came from the sea route. Another came from the land route. They burned down Aung Thukha village and they are stationing again to Yebadai village and Thargyin village. On the way back to Thargyin, we know that trailer jeep fell down and 1 soldier died while crossing the creek. It is not yet confirmed. Because of that patrol, they are controlling Aungtha village. People are trapped. But they didn’t do anything to Aungtha. They only burned Aung Thukha village and retreated back,” said the official of Ngazun Pakafa.
As a result of such a military operation, more than 1,000 families from the villages of Yae Lae Thaung, Aung Thukha, Lanka Dipa, Rakkha Dipa, Kantha and Kanhla are fleeing the war.
“They (soldiers) didn’t want to show their movement because it was day time. They had placed at Yebadai bank near Aung Thukha. They acted like the villages on the north side of the river would be patrolled. In the evening, the people of Yebadai village had also fled. 1 villager from Yebadai was arrested. The other column entered Thargyin village from Ngazun town and a trailer jeep was requisitioned from Resim village. almost all locals have fled,” said a local.
On August 5, the SAC troops entered and fired gun Yelaetaung villge in Ngazun township, and a villager was killed by a bullet and one was injured.
