A Hluttaw member of the National League for Democracy said that the expulsion of 4 people, including U Phyo Min Thein, from the party was due to breach of trust and royalty to the people and the party.
On 3rd March, the NLD Central Working Committee had announced that U Phyo Min Thein who is a Central Work Leader, and Daw Sanda Min, U Win Myint Aung and U Toe Lwin, who are the Central Committee members were expelled from the National League for Democracy because they opposed the NLD policies and provisions and did not respect the will of the people.
Mainly, as a state in the letter, they betrayed the people, revolution as well as the party. Betraying the people is the same as betraying the party and the revolution. Those accusations are all true, so the CWC of the party had expelled them,” said a 2020 elected Hluttaw member in Mandalay Region.
A political analyst said that some of the 4 people expelled from the NLD party may establish the party for participating in the illegal election to be held by the SAC military.
“I don’t think that Phyo Min Thein will establish the party. He is a person who does not dare to go to the public and will be forever humiliated. The remaining 3 persons may establish the party. It is too late to purge them from the party,” he said.
The Central Working Committee had expelled 4 of them at the meeting on March 2, according to reports submitted by the central committee members, regional and state executives, and central affairs committee members who attended the weekly meeting of the National League for Democracy, to take action against those who has given false testimony against Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the president of the League, and those who do not respect the will of the people and act against the party’s policies.
The 4 of them were suspended from all the responsibilities assigned by the league and were permanently expelled from the party.
On the night of March 3, U Toe Lwin responded on his social network page about the expulsion.
U Phyo Min Thein was the one who testified before the court as a witness to the SAC military that he gave Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the State Counsellor, six hundred thousand dollars and 7 pounds of gold.
