After martial law was declared in Khin U Township, Sagaing Region, the SAC troops burned five villages and looted food from six villages.
On the morning of Feb. 13, the SAC troops set fire to Min Kangyi village including a school and again set fire to Lepanhla village at 3:30 in the afternoon. Then, in the evening, they went to Launglon village and burned it until night, according to Khin U Township Right News Information.
“Until today, everyone from all villages has been running, so the number of houses that have been burned is unknown. There are many people who have not been able to return to their own villages,” said a person helping those who fled the war in Khin U Township.
He also said that the SAC Military have been burning villages in Khin U Township at will without any reason.
Since Feb. 11, the SAC troops have cooperated with Pyu Saw Htee (militia of SAC) in Ma Daung Hla Village and destroyed some of the palm tents of the people affected by the fire in Saw Gyi Village and Thanat Sein Village, Khin U Township Right News Information reported.
After that, they threatened the residents of In Gyin Pin Village and Phan Khar Kone Village with weapons and called one person from every house, and took food such as rice, oil, and peanuts to Ma Daung Hla Village of the Pyu Saw Htee. On Feb. 11 and 12, they entered Pin Tin Village, Nyaung Kan Village, Kun Taing Village, and Min Kan Gyi Village and looted the food belonging to the public from those villages and brought them to Mekyee Tone Village of Pyu Saw Htee.
Residents in the north, east, and southeast of Khin U Township have been fleeing the war alternately since Feb. 11, and are in need of food, shelter, and clothing.
On Feb. 2, the SAC announced that martial law would apply to 37 townships in Sagaing, Chin, Magway, Bago, Taninthari, Karen, Mon, and Kayah.
