It is reported that a newborn baby is among those fleeing from the military troops in Palaw Township, Taninthary Region.
On Jan. 16, a battle broke out in Shatpon Village in Palaw Township from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and more than 300 residents of Shatpon, Pyin Nge, Sanpya and Kone Phyar Villages near the fighting have fled, said a person fleeing the war.
“Now we are running aimlessly. We still dare haven’t returned. We have a newborn baby. Both our grandparents have. Last night, we were sleeping on the ground in the cold weather. I hate war,” he said.
It is known that the newborn baby is a boy from the Shatpon village, and children under 10 years old and grandparents over 60 years old are also fleeing the war.
MPA has investigated that there are five small villages that are fleeing due to the fighting in Shatpon, and there are more than 300 people fleeing the war, and there are three places where they are hiding to avoid the fighting.
“Two people were killed by military dogs (soldiers of the SAC) in the battle on the 16th. One died in the middle of the battle. The other died yesterday after being hit by a heavy weapon. We don’t know exactly who they are and which village they are from,” said a leader of the Palaw Regional Defense Force (PRDF).
He said that seven soldiers and an administrator were killed during the battle in Shatpon village, Palaw Township, on Jan. 16, and two guns, two grenades, more than 100 bullets, six grenades and six boxes of ammunition were seized.
