While In Daing Lay and Chaung Nar villages of Depeyin Township were destroyed by the SAC troops and they were able to save the elderly and pregnant women who were trapped in the village because they couldn’t run away, the Depeyin Township Brotherhood Group announced.
While the military troops were in the village, elderly people and a pregnant woman who could not escape were hiding in fear in the village. The scout/reporter in charge of the members of Depeyin Township Brotherhood, Ko Moe Tein and his team (Battalion – 21) went into the village together with the villagers and rescued them.
As their team entered the village, they were hiding because they ran into the rest soldiers, according to the Depeyin Township Brotherhood Group.
“Yesterday, they went to the village to save. The grandparents who couldn’t run away were caught in the fire, but the soldiers were sitting and watching them being burned alive. We learned they went to save them before the soldiers had all left the village,” said one of the people helping the IDPs.
After the soldiers left the village, the rescue team saw the grandparents coming out in panic when they signed them. A pregnant woman was found with the 90-year-old grandmother carrying in her arms and was able to save both from the fire, Depeyin Township Brotherhood announced.
On January 9th, the SAC troops invaded and burned the villages of In Daing lay and Chaung Nar, and it is not yet known how many houses were destroyed.
On January 7th, the military entered and burned Satpyarkyin Village and Boke Village, killing an 84-year-old grandfather who could not escape Satpyarkyin Village.
72 houses in Satpyarkyin Village and 180 houses in Boke Village were destroyed by fire, according to the Depeyin Township Brotherhood Group.
“In the past, entering the villages was to clear the military area. Since the end of 2022, it has become the intention to enter the village to set fire to the village. Now, the soldiers are burning every village of entering and leaving in Depeyin,” said a person helping to IDPs in Depeyin.
In January, the SAC troops burned down the villages of Yin Dwe , Saing Pyin town, Kyi, Hpayar Htwet, Man Kyee Sauk, Satpyarkyin, Boke, Wun Yan, Gone Yoe, In Daing Lay, and Chaung Nar Village from January 3rd,.
Saing Pyin Village in Depeyin Township is the village where Ledi Sayadaw was born. It was upgraded to town status in 2018 and is a sub-township with more than 2,000 households.
