It has been confirmed that a Rohingya who was riding on a motorcycle in Sittwe, Rakhine state, was hit by a military vehicle used by the SAC troops and died.
The Rohingya man is a resident of Bumay Ward, Sittwe City, and it is said that he was hit by a Navy military vehicle of the SAC on the main road in front of Wave KTV, Lam Maw Ward, Sittwe City, at noon today.
A resident of Sittwe, who witnessed the incident, told MPA, “The Navy car hit him head-on, and he died once. The Rakhine Social Assistance Group came and took the body to Sittwe Hospital.”
Those assisting the Rohingya said that they are asking to confirm the name and age of the Rohingya man to the Bumay Ward Administrator, and are also contacting his family members.
Rohingya claim that the SAC in Rakhine has restricted the Rohingya’s right to travel, they suffer as well as human rights violations, forced slander and killings.
“In any case, since he died, the family should get justice and proper compensation. They cannot sue them because they are from the military,” said a young Rohingya from Bumay Ward, Sittwe City to MPA.
The Rohingyas also say that since the military coup in Rakhine, the military council has been stricter on the Rohingyas, and many have been displaced from their homes.
