In Mrauk-U town of Rakhine State, all members of the Military Security Affairs at their office at Nyaung Pin Zay ward were arrested by members of the Arakan Army (AA) on the evening of June 21.
The terrorist military troops were arrested by the AA members while they were eating at a restaurant in Nyaung Pin Zay ward, according to Mrauk-U residents.
“Last evening, they got arrested by the AA while they were eating. I think the military and police didn’t notice it last night. The military messed around the town only this morning,” said a Mrauk-U local to MPA.
Since this morning, the terrorist military conducts checks at four locations inside the town including at Ale Zay bridge and near the No. 1 High School. Some locals have been arrested and they are patrolling the town with four military trucks, some Mrauk-U locals say.
In Rakhine, the Arakan Army (AA) has arrested a total of 17 soldiers, police and MSA members of the terrorist military within a span of 12 days – between June 11 and June 22.
“The military arresting innocent civilians in Rakhine is violation of human rights. It’s absolutely condemned,” said a human rights activist.
In the press conference held by the Arakan Army (AA) on the 14th of this month, it was said, “SAC troops are being arrested in return since they are arresting ULA/AA troops and those who work in their judiciaries.”
“I think the public should be spared by both sides. They should not do that and if they do, we will speak up against it,” said former Pyithu Hluttaw Representative in Rakhine, U Phay Than.
In Rakhine, the terrorist military has unjustly arrested nearly 100 locals from Ponnagyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbya areas within this week, said family members and Rakhine locals.
