According to a family member, Daw Nyo Aye, an activist for Rakhine Women Rights who has been charged by the SAC military under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, is in a state of concern and needs to be hospitalized.
“During the third trial yesterday, she fainted due to high blood pressure. She fainted at 11 o’clock in the afternoon. She immediately went to Sittwe Hospital. The situation is worrying. The hospital gave her the injection,” a family member of Daw Nyo Aye, an activist for Rakhine women’s rights, told MPA.
Daw Nyo Aye, a chairperson of Rakhine Women’s Network, who has been charged under Section 505 (b) of the Penal code, was rushed to Sittwe Hospital for high blood pressure and fainting while leaving the prison to attend the trial for the third time yesterday (September 18).
“They told me I had to go to the hospital, but as soon as she lost some blood, she was taken back to the prison in a police car. She was not allowed to go to the hospital. My mother was not in good health before. There was no food in the prison. In addition to that, when she was asked to sit, the blood increased. I am very worried about my mother,” said a family member of Daw Nyo Aye, an activist for Rakhine women’s rights.
“According to Sittwe Hospital’s medical examination, an activist for Rakhine women’s rights, Daw Nyo Aye, has high blood pressure as well as fat in her liver, so I am worried about her health condition,” she said.
“Prisoners also have the rights of prisoners. Prisoners have to get medical treatment. They should be allowed to see their family. Now, because of covid, the prisoners are not allowed to be with their families, and their health rights are also being banned, so it is a violation of the prisoners’ rights. It is a violation of Human rights. If something happens to an innocent citizen who has been arrested in prison, the SAC military is responsible. They will be responsible for these,” said an Advocate.
The Prison Manual Law also stipulates that every prisoner has the right to receive appropriate health care while incarcerated and is entitled to visit the prison once a week.
Daw Nyo Aye, an activist for Rakhine women’s rights, was arrested on August 15 after attending a commemoration ceremony of the 56th Sittwe Rice Crisis Day and the case was filed under Section 505 (b) of the Penal code by the Station Commander of Sittwe Police Station No.1.
